LightTech Group was started in 1992 with the purpose of bringing CFL® Fixture Technology into the Television Studio. It was developed to overcome the limitations of quartz soft lights: the intense heat on talent, long throws that ended to wash out background scenery, high maintenance costs due to short lamp life, high electricity usage, and extra air conditioning. Fluorescent lighting has been around for many years, but only since the late 1980’s has it become practical for the television industry. This advancement has been made possible by commercially available high frequency electronic ballasts and lamps with a high color rendering index. We took these breakthroughs to create a CFL® fixture that has become an important new tool for lighting professionals. |
LightTech’s CFL® fixtures are ten times more efficient than traditional quartz soft lights and often have a lamp life of more than 10,000 hours because they draw ten times less power. CFL® fixtures also dramatically reduce HVAC cooling needs. LightTech’s CFL® fixtures are designed to operate using existing television studio DMX or SCR Dimming Controls and work in conjunction with a studio’s existing quartz fixtures as well. Each fixture is individually dimmable using a DMX dimmer control board, or directly through SCRs and require no additional wires. These CFL® fixtures mix seamlessly with existing quartz luminaires and are easy to handle because of their rugged, lightweight design. Talent love LightTech’s CFL® fixtures.
